Last week, our farm was delighted to take part in Tractors in Schools, a fantastic initiative aimed at educating children about modern farming. Brett Vale Farming Company Farm Manager, Olly, visited Beaumont Community Primary School and Elmsett Church of England Primary School, both in our corner of Suffolk, taking a tractor along to give students a hands-on experience of farm life.

During the visits, Olly spoke to the children about the essential role tractors play in farming, from ploughing fields and planting crops to harvesting and transporting produce. He explained how technology has transformed agriculture, making farming more efficient and sustainable. The children had the opportunity to ask questions and see first-hand the machinery that helps feed the nation.

It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm from even the smallest child, many of whom had never been up close to a tractor before! These events are a great way to connect young people with farming and show them the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. A huge thank you to Beaumont and Elmsett Primary Schools for welcoming us and to Olly for sharing his knowledge. We hope this experience has planted a seed of curiosity about farming in the next generation!

Thank you Olly for your time, knowledge and patience, educating your future tractor drivers!

NOTE: Tractors in Schools is organised in Suffolk by the Suffolk Agricultural Association. 2025 saw 75 farmers taking part.
