Material Change added Fraddon Biogas to its portfolio of in house AD sites on 13th January 2022.
Fraddon is a gas to grid AD site in Cornwall and generates renewable gas from a mix of wastes and grown crop feedstock and injects the gas into the local grid. The digestate from the process is used by local farmers as a fertiliser. The site should generate more than 3 million m3 of renewable gas for use locally in 2022, a small but environmentally sound alternative to gas being shipped in from Europe and transported by pipeline from Russia. The existing team on site have moved over with the purchase of the site.
The acquisition increases the number of AD sites operated or managed by the Material Change team to 10 with 4 gas to grid and 6 electricity generating sites, in addition to the composting and the Pedersen chicken mucking out business.
Ed Bastow commented “this is another really exciting step for Material Change and we welcome the Cornwall team to the business. With huge uncertainty in the international gas market it’s great to be injecting gas locally and we look forward to working with the existing suppliers in the area in the future”.
